The setting of the story was in Owl Creek Bridge in Northern Alabama near a railroad. The setting was very dark, and horrid because men were about to be hung over a river, and shot. The date of this event was probably somewhere between 1850s when they had railroads, and 1900s when they stopped hanging people.
